Matt grew up in Ventura Country, just north of Los Angeles. He fell in love with wine from a young age after growing up hearing stories of his grandfather’s home wine making experiences. Matt learned wine (and Pinot) by joining his grandfather and father on trips to Santa Barbara.
Matt migrated north to attend Sonoma State University where he graduated with a B.A. in Economics and never found a reason to leave. When an internship opportunity at Kosta Browne Winery was presented during his last year in college he jumped on it. After that he dove in head first working in every aspect of the wine industry from production to finance and hospitality. Emeritus is a natural fit for Matt who loves Pinot and the Russian River Valley. He is excited to work at a small family winery and really make an impact on the new tasting room.
