Our ‘white pinot noir’ is made from juice that has been gently liberated from grapes after destemming, it has only minutes of skin contact (thus the white color). It is fermented with native yeast in a concrete tank, then transferred to barrels with all of its yeast lees for aging. The result is a pale, super aromatic and textural wine that could only come from Pinot Noir.
The 2017 Hallberg Blanc is a beautiful pale rose gold in color. Aromas of orange blossom and white flowers mingle with a creamy custard-like aroma. The mouthfeel energizes the palate immediately with white cranberry-like acidity and a vibrant texture. Thanks to plenty of time on the lees, there is a weighty creaminess and length that is anything but typical of a white wine. This is a serious wine that, like our other Pinot Noirs, can pair with a myriad of foods and can benefit from a bit of time in the glass or decanting just before serving.
