Tasting Notes

2021 Hallberg Ranch — NEW RELEASE

Artfully blended from every parcel on the Hallberg Ranch, the 2021 vintage begins with a highly detailed aromatic profile that includes goji berry, orange zest, cranberries, cocoa powder, crushed violets, and a touch of cedar. This wine displays a highly energetic yet sleek acid profile that persists and melds beautifully from start to finish. It spreads easily across the palate in all directions, revealing an incredibly pure and classic example of the Hallberg Ranch that finishes with a very fine-grained tannic structure.

2021 Pinot Hill — NEW RELEASE

2021 Pinot Hill blossoms with inviting aromas of herbs de Provence, toasted sesame, jute, balsam and tea. The undeniable verve is on full display as it satisfies all corners of the palate, bringing both volume and stimulating acidity in a lovely, harmonious tension. Wild berry reduction sauce combines with a subtle note of Angostura bitters, which together provide a chewy core beautifully framed by fine-grain tannins. This wine generously offers all the detail and drama for which the Pinot Hill vineyard has come to be known and will surely continue to reveal itself for years to come.

2020 Hallberg Elite- NEW RELEASE

The 2020 Hallberg Elite is another stunning example that shows why this wine is bottled separately from its peers. Opening aromas of sweet, exotic notes of hibiscus, eight treasures tea, and star anise are followed by fresh acidity that floods across the palate, evoking thoughts of pineapple, dried cranberry, and maraschino cherry liqueur. Evolving into a stimulating and tactile mouthfeel reminiscent of sweet oils, plush tannins round out this dramatic, detailed, and highly rewarding wine.

2019 Pinot Hill Elite- NEW RELEASE

Hailing from the cold yet sunny Western side of the Pinot Hill vineyard, the Elite gushes with a classic, sweet juiciness reminiscent of mashed pluot, tamarind, sappy hibiscus, and bay leaf. The palate offers a luxurious and rewarding sensation that is both incredibly lush and yet still energetic, containing notes of chai tea, dried fruit paste and berry sorbet. A very melted quality to the tannin rounds out the final detail of this exotic beauty.

2019 Pinot Hill Cruz- NEW RELEASE

Highly prized for its idiosyncratic and ethereal nature, the Pinot Hill Cruz exudes incredibly complex aromatics of nori, rhubarb, dried orange peel and wild, coastal fruits. A luscious yet taught mouthfeel provides lovely textural background to the notes of Angostura, rose water and a slight salinity. This wine commands attention as it evolves in the glass, bringing a new experience with each encounter.

Food & Wine Recommendation

Brice’s Favorite Gougères

PAIR WITH: 2021 Hallberg Ranch

Nothing pairs with Pinot like a gougère! This is the bite of choice in wine cellars through Burgundy, and the go-to for every Jones family gathering.  Brice has fond memories visiting his friends in Burgundy and indulging in a few too many gougères. Gougères are like French cheese puffs, they are a great hors d’oeuvre and so easy to make even Brice can do it (with only a little help from Mari).
